Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – J.K. Rowling

Goodreads synopsis: Harry Potter is midway through his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup. He wants to find out about the mysterious event that’s supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn’t happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he’s not normal – even by wizarding standards. And in his case, different can be deadly.

English review

It took me nearly two weeks to finish this very long Harry Potter story. But not even after two weeks do I know exactly what to say about it, it wasn’t the best of Rowlings book. It just got too much to me, most of the time I like when I need to think twice over and over but here? No, it was too much. I think Rowling made the book too long.

There were things I liked, though; how amazing Fred and George were in this book. It was fun reading about them and get to know them a little better.

But, as I said, this isn’t my favorite Harry Potter book. It wasn’t bad – no, of course not – but too long. And I missed Ron, I wanted to hear more about him and his life.

Not pleasant. And there’s no counter-curse. There’s no blocking it. Only one known person has ever survived it, and he’s sitting right in front of me.

Mad-Eye Moody

If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.

Sirius Black

Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.

Albus Dumbledore

‘Curiosity is not a sin,’ he said. ‘But we should exercise caution with our curiosity … yes, indeed …’

Albus Dumbledore

SPOILER

I appreciated that for the first time the theme in this book – The Triwizard Cup – was arranged and not one of Harrys own adventures. Another thing I liked was how other magical schools was involved. I mean, Krum? I found the whole Krum-still-goes-to-school thing unexpected and fun, escpecially how he and Hermione (Herm-own-ninny) got close to each other.

Svensk recension
