Hi! It has been a while since I last wrote here, at least a book review. However, here’s my review of this amazing book!
Goodreads synopsis: First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations.
The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. Alex is busy enough handling his mother’s bloodthirsty opponents and his own political ambitions without an uptight royal slowing him down. But beneath Henry’s Prince Charming veneer, there’s a soft-hearted eccentric with a dry sense of humor and more than one ghost haunting him.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. And Henry throws everything into question for Alex, an impulsive, charming guy who thought he knew everything: What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?
So basically, I loved it. It was beautiful and heart warming, funny, and sad sometimes. Just the book you want a rainy day. Alex really had this teenage spirit, while Henry was more deep minded. Henry thought about things and their meaning, I guess their isn’t very much else to do when you live in a big castle mostly left having to be your own company.
While reading I never really got an answer to what Ellen achieved as the president. Why should people vote for her? I liked that it was an AU and really was in our time.
The book references! Star Wars, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. I had a good laugh at it all. SO much fun.
Favorite character: I must say the Prince, Henry. He was so sweet and funny.
My rating: 4, it’s a great book (it’s a debut too!) but she could have made more things happen, problems and solutions.
Goodreads rating: 4.25
Sometimes you just jump and hope it’s not a cliff. This is so true. Find a reason and go for it, worrying isn’t going to help you.
”You are”, he says, ”the absolute worst idea I’ve ever had.”But he must admit, it was a pretty good one too.
Take anything you want and know you deserve to have it.This is something that could lead you through a lot of things but also guide you into a lot of shit.
I don’t care what Joanne has to say, Remus John Lupin is gay as the day is long, and I won’t hear a word against it.Agreed, and wow, that’s our Henry!
I’ve waited for this book for months wondering if it’s all worth it. Now, when I finished it less that two days after I got it, I know the answer. Yes, it was worth it. Worth waiting. Worth reading.
