Eat animals?

Why do vegetarians and vegans think it’s wrong to eat animals? To hurt animals? Doesn’t sound very good when you say it, does it? ”Killing living beings for food because they taste good.” No, is it really an acceptable excuse for human behavior? We can no longer say we eat cows, birds, pigs etc. because we need to in order to survive, it was the truth – years ago. Today we have new options: we have alternatives that ensures our survival without having to kill other living beings. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

But. There is one problem here, isn’t it? Maybe you think it’s the vegetarian/vegan food but no, it’s not. The problem isn’t that meat is sold on the supermarket or that ”we’re simply not built to eat that kind of diet”.

The problem is our thinking.

It’s how very fast we reject an idea, it’s that we don’t want to change. To change means change; our point of view and ourselves. It frightens us because the way the humans species need to change is our whole living – how we live.

Eating animals was the only way years ago, we needed the protein and the energy, but is this still our situation? Today we have plant based food with protein, we say ”I love animals!” buuuut really? Eating meat today is nothing but an excuse to not have to change. Eating meat means eating dead animals, animals! How can someone say they love something and the next second hurt it? That was a life I lived before too, my parents – just like most people – eat meat, we went to the zoo and I loved animals. Then I saw something. I saw the most horrible thing someone can see, something that has scared humans from the very beginning. I saw the truth.

Are you ready to see it? To open your eyes to the real world? Are you ready to change? Would you do what it takes if your heart tells you it’s right?

This is such a great topic and I loved hearing your take on it! I think that another reason why humans eat meat is because we are selfish creatures who just love the taste of it. I was talking to this man once and he said, “You should just eat whatever you want.” And then after that I was so mad and furious at the fact that people could be so selfish! I eat meat, and though I really want to be a vegetarian or even a vegan, I don’t think that I can until I’m out of college and I start cooking my own meals. 😕
Also, I agree 100%. Humans are so scared to change! An example of this is America and their love of guns. As soon as one politician even mentions placing a restriction on semi-automatic rifles people will start going crazy about how we want to “take away their guns” and whatnot. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m getting mad just thinking about it! Guns have caused the deaths of so many children during school shootings, yet people refuse to change their ways.
Anyways though, great post! It was really insightful and beautifully written! 😊

The well known ”you should just eat whatever you want” is a good example of how we know that there is a problem but refuse to look it in the eye.
The guns in America is a big problem, the situation, very simplified, is ”fight fire with fire”. Which, when you look at it like that, really won’t work.
Thank you! I’m just writing what I feel like, and what I think is necessary. I hope you’ll find a way to stop eating meat, whether it’s today, tomorrow or any day in the future, we’ll always be with you. If you have questions or anything I’d love to answer them. (:

“If you fight fire with fire, the whole world will go up in flames.” And that’s exactly what’s happening. Oh gosh.
Yes, I hope so too! Thank you so much, I have so many questions but I can only think of one right now. Do you think that if more people stopped eating meat, the amount of livestock that’s killed would decrease because the demand for meat has decreased as well? I think so, right?

It depends. Think like this: this supermarket has a lot of animal products, why? Because it’s easily sold, people want it and buy it. But what happens if those people who used to buy the products stopped or decreased their consumption by a lot? The supermarket can’t have the products just lying there, untouched. Now we have a problem: buying food that won’t be sold is not a good idea, the ones having the supermarket can’t afford that. They have to accept that people no longer want these products or they try to increase the consumption. Some people will probably start buying again, but some won’t. Still, they can’t afford having products that’s not sold. So then they’ll have to decrease the amount, which means the farmer won’t sell as much to them, which means the farmer needs to find another market to sell the animal products to. But. If the consumption has decreased everywhere then the farmer can’t keep the business going. Now less animals will have to die.

But in modern society we’re so many people who eat so much meat. So, to lessen the amount of animals that are killed by humans for food we have to decrease the consumption. Which starts with one single person wanting to make a difference.

Bit of a long answer, huh? Well, I think the story’d be like this? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Wow, yes! So if more people start to become vegetarian over time all around the world, then the demand for meat would decrease so less livestock would be killed. Yes! Okay, thank you so much!

I recommend watching Cowspiracy on Netflix, it’s a movie about this question; what would happen if we stopped consuming meat and dairy, and what will happen if we don’t? I just watched it and wow, it was great and I learned a lot.
